Abstract

This research investigated the relationship between social responsibility engagement and coworker collaboration, with the mediating role of meaningful work, among employees of the General Directorate of Education of North Khorasan, presented as a causal model. The statistical population of this study was the education staff of Bojnourd city in 1403, of which 194 people were selected as a sample using the convenience sampling method. The data collection tool was three questionnaires on participation in social responsibility and cooperative behavior by Supanti and Butcher (2019) and meaningful work by Arno-Nicolas et al. (2016). After confirming the validity of the questionnaire, the reliability of the questionnaires was assessed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the variables of participation in social responsibility (0.83), cooperative behavior (0.78), and meaningful work (0.72). The data obtained from these questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS and Smart PLS-2 software using structural equation modeling. The findings showed that the standardized path coefficient between the variables of participation in social responsibility and cooperative behavior of employees (0.526) indicates that participation in social responsibility directly explains 52.6 percent of the changes in the cooperative behavior variable in employees. With the inclusion of the mediator variable, the results show that in the presence of the meaningful work variable, the standard coefficient for the relationship between participation in social responsibility and cooperative behavior has decreased from 0.526 to 0.432, but it is significant. Therefore, the role of the meaningful work variable in the relationship between participation in social responsibility and cooperative behavior in employees is partial mediation. It can be concluded that meaningful work occurs when there is a fit between the employee's personal values and his work goals.
