Given the rapid increase in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) among Iranian students, developing a standardized instrument to assess their attitudes toward this phenomenon is of great importance. Therefore, the present study aimed to construct and validate the General Attitude toward Artificial Intelligence Questionnaire for students. The study employed a descriptive–survey design with an instrument validation approach. The statistical population consisted of all high school students in Chabahar during the 2024–2025 academic year (approximately 6,000 students). Using a convenience sampling method, 408 students who completed the questionnaires were selected as the study sample And responded to the researcher-made questionnaire on general attitudes towards artificial intelligence and the Chen et al. Artificial Intelligence Questionnaire (2022). To determine the validity of the instrument, content validity, construct validity, and convergent validity were assessed, and the reliability was also assessed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient and the correlation of each item with the total questionnaire score in SPSS version 27. The results of the Content Validity Index (CVI ≥ 0.80) and Content Validity Ratio (CVR ≥ 0.62) indicated acceptable values as judged by experts. Exploratory factor analysis revealed that the questionnaire consisted of 16 items in two main factors—positive attitude toward AI and concern about AI—which together explained 66.30% of the total variance. The item–total correlations ranged from 0.44 to 0.80, and the questionnaire showed a significant positive correlation with the AI Management Questionnaire (P<0.001), confirming its convergent validity. The reliability coefficients (Cronbach’s alpha) were 0.924 for the positive attitude subscale, 0.920 for the concern subscale, and 0.931 for the overall questionnaire. Based on these findings, the General Attitude toward Artificial Intelligence Questionnaire with 16 items and two subscales demonstrated satisfactory validity and reliability and can be used as a reliable tool for assessing students’ attitudes toward artificial intelligence.
