[English]

Contemporary educational systems increasingly require students to go beyond completing compulsory assignments and to actively improve the learning environment. Given this issue's importance, the present study aimed to predict academic civic behavior among upper secondary school students, using love of learning and academic ethics as predictors. A descriptive-correlational design was employed. The statistical population comprised all upper secondary school students in Buin Zahra County, Iran, during the 2024-2025 academic year. Using multistage cluster sampling and Cochran's formula, researchers selected a sample of 321 students from a population of 1,808. The instruments used were the Academic Civic Behavior Questionnaire (Golparvar, 2015), the Love of Learning Questionnaire (McFarlane, 2003), and the Academic Ethics Questionnaire (Golparvar, 2015). Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis. The results revealed significant positive relationships between love of learning and academic civic behavior (r=0.35, p< 0.001) and between academic ethics and academic civic behavior (r=0.63, p<0.001). In the multiple regression analysis, both love of learning (β=0.188, p<0.001) and academic ethics (β=0.577, p<0.001) significantly predicted academic civic behavior, with the regression model explaining 43% of the variance in academic civic behavior (R²=0.43, p=0.001). Accordingly, attention to strengthening motivation and interest in learning, as well as moral components and a sense of responsibility in school educational programs, may be instrumental in improving students' academic civic behavior.
